Physiotherapy in Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL)

05:08

Woke up early in the morning and realized that I just got sore throat. After I had my every Friday jogging session with lots of sweating, I thought the sore throat could recover but NO! I even ate a pill of Panadol ActiveFast before going to the CME Workshop and drank a lot of waters, but the sore throat is still there. And now I have running nose and shaky legs after taking a nap coming back from physiotherapy in HKL. Let's just hope that things are not gonna get worse.

Mentioning physiotherapy in HKL, it started with a question that I always receive from people around me: What is wrong with you?

What is wrong with me? I have slip disc? I am not sure if it is called slip disc because the doctors never gave me a proper name of my condition. Doctors, from both government hospitals and private hospitals. I have went to many hospital inquired about my condition, ran through X-ray, MRI, physiotherapy and so on. All the doctors they just kept asking questions, they didn't explain. But from the MRI report, it was written that the disc between two bones of my back bone has some problem (I don't know how to explain because I don't know how to read medic report.)
I had this problem since I was 14 years old ( year 2007). The problem never solve, it just get more worse. Then people around me started to feel troublesome about my problem because I can't stand for long, I can't sit for long, I can't walk for long and I can't take care of myself properly. When it hurts so badly, I have to take up strong painkiller pills or even worse, being sent to hospital for morphine injection. I hate when people said, "Why don't you go to check with doctors?" Believe me, I had, since years ago but there is nothing I can do with it.

After an accident during my internship, I was being send to the HKL specialist to look over the problem from the start again. Then the doctor (it was never the same doctor, in different appointment you have to meet up with different doctors and explain everything over and over, and also every time getting free painkillers from different doctor) asked me to start a new physiotherapy session with them again. I told her that I have gone through a physiotherapy treatment back when I was in middle school but it doesn't work out. She insisted me to try again, so here I am going back to the physiotherapy treatment again.
This is the block where the physiotherapy department located.

When I reached the department, I have to submit my appointment card in the basket by the registration counter. For first time comer, it is free of charge and the person who sat by the counter will give you a packet of cookies. For the next appointment, if you are not any working for the government you will have to pay RM5 for every visit (Malaysia resident and non-Malaysia resident will be charge differently). After your name was called, you will have to pay and you will receive a receipt in return.

My physiotherapy session is located in the gymnasium 1 so I will head to there after the payment was made.
You can't head in as you wish. You will need to take off your shoes and waited by the outside. You have to wait around 15mins for the physiotherapist to call out your name and let you enter if it is not crowded. If it is crowded, it can take up to 45mins.

There is a locker inside so you can keep your belongings inside without worrying being stolen during your physiotherapy session. For first time comer, they will let you to fill in a form to state your level of condition and also made you read the rules and regulations. Inside the gymnasium, there are various of sports equipment such as bicycle, treadmill and etc. Most of the time I just spent my session on the bed doing stretching and applying hot pack. Again the physiotherapist in charge of me keep changing from every visit so I have to explain my condition again and again (they said they lost my information so there is no record).

I will have to continue the physiotherapy session until I have my next appointment with the specialist and tell him/her that the physiotherapy treatment doesn't help out much. And let's see what does the doctor want me to do next.

  1. I’m sorry about your back! I had a similar problem when I was younger, and had to do physiotherapy as well. At least the hospital and gymnasium you are in look clean and comfortable! Just stay focused. Hopefully, in a few months with some hard work you’ll be able to get back to normal.

    1. Apparently I have discharged from this physiotherapy center because it ain't helping out much. I have gone through the session for about half a year and it was the physiotherapist who said he cant do anything else.
However, I found myself another way out and it helped. It is the DTS. I have written about it in my blog as well. Anyway, thank you for the comment!

  2. It happens sometimes as the doctors just know the reality but even then they do bit tell the patients and here at Physiotherapy North Ryde the patient is informed all about the condition and the time duration in which the problem is expected to settle down.
