Review: Makeup Revolution Iconic 1 Eye Shadow Palette

03:51

It has been a really long time since I last posted. I have been really busy with my study, especially with my final year project. Anyhow, today I am here to review an eye shadow palette from Makeup Revolution which is a UK drugstore brand. I have ordered it from UK during the Lunar New Year and finally be able to pick it up as the parcel was sent back to my hometown instead of my current stay.

Let's talk about the brand first. Makeup Revolution is a drugstore brand originated from UK and it is a fairly new brand(started back in March 2014). The price range of the products are fairly affordable for beginners and it is cruelty-free.

Iconic 1(the name of the eye shadow palette), I have seen this palette quite frequent when I was watching Dupes or Dudes from various youtuber. Yes, Dupes or Dudes, which literally means Iconic 1 actually look alike to the Urban Decay Naked Original Palette.

Let's take a look at the Iconic1:

I am not very keen of the packaging actually. It is a plastic casing which offered minimum protection towards the eye shadow. I actually ordered three palettes from Makeup Revolution and one of the palettes ended up with broken casing. It cannot survive throughout the journey of mail from UK to Malaysia. However, after reporting to Makeup Revolution, they do gave me a refund on the broken palette. Also, as you can see from the back of the product, it is manufactured in PRC( which means it is from China).

Doesn't it look similar to UD Naked Original Palette? There are 12 different shades, 10 shimmer shades and 2 matte shades.  The shades don't have any name so I am naming them with numbers(easy to refer). The shades are warm-neutrals that are good for daily makeup look and also applicable for smokey makeup look with the 8th, 11th and 12th shades. It also consists of a double-ended spongy tip(which I will never use).

Below are the swatches and description towards the color of the shades.
1. Soft baby pink with slight pearl sheen.
2. Dusty rose pink with shimmer.
3. Matte neutral brown.
4. Neutral medium brown with shimmer
5. Matte medium brown.
6. Vibrant golden bronze with shimmer.
7. Deep shimmery brown.
8. Cool dark brown with shimmer.
9. Rusty shimmering copper with a hint of pink.
10. Deep brown with shimmer.
11. Smoky dark brown, consistency in between of matte and shimmer.
12. Pearly blue-grey.

Overall: The shimmer shades are very buttery, pigmented and glides easily on the skin. The matte shades are less pigment, need a few more application to make it show. However, they are very good to use as a transition color. These eyeshadows do have fallout but it is still bearable.

Price: This palette is being sold at the price of £4.00(around RM26.00).
Shipping fee: £7.95

Verdict: The palette does do it works fine and considering such a cheap retail price, it definitely worth every penny you pay. If you are a beginner and you are out of budget to purchase an eyeshadow palette, this might be one of the palettes that may benefit you. However, if you wanted some great quality and you doesn't mind about the price,I would recommend you to go for the UD Naked Palette instead. Please do remember that the shipping fee is quite pricey(it is more expensive than the product itself), so it is better if you buy a few palette together(make the shipping fee worth) or you might share the shipping fee together with a few friends that hit they eye on this palette as well.

Repurchase? Probably not. Because an eye shadow palette can last for a very long time and I believe from time to time, there will be more option to choose with reasonable price and decent quality.

Cheers <3
